Deep Tissue Massage: Tui Na

Tui Na is a Chinese style of deep tissue massage.

Tui na can be applied to release the constraint of tight muscles, promote healthy circulation, and the healthy flow of lymph. Tui na is extremely flexible; I use it for all sorts of problems, including those that you might seek sports massage, other styles of deep tissue massage, holistic massage or any other remedial therapeutic massage for. When tension is relieved, your whole body and mind can relax.

Tui Na can:

  • Relieve tight muscles

  • Ease a painful back, neck or shoulders

  • Promote the healing of sports or traumatic injuries

  • Treat chronic problems such as fibromyalgia pain

I frequently use tui na alongside acupuncture, abdominal massage, gua sha and cupping.

Tui na is mostly practised through a light cloth, with the use of oils where necessary.

Massage is an important part of treatment. I use massage as a diagnostic tool as well as therapeutically. I often use massage during acupuncture treatments to clarify whether massage or acupuncture are the best ways to approach a given condition. Massage and acupuncture can be used interchangeably to a certain extent, although not completely. If you think you need acupuncture but don’t like needles, I can often treat conditions just through massage. Get in touch via the below form, or send me an email if you have any questions.
